The iO Series 10 with iO Sense is the latest electric toothbrush to be added to the Oral-B range of products.
It has been announced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2022.
It is based on the existing Oral-B iO but has some new features, mostly related to the new charging stand.

Oral-B first launched the iO Series in the summer of 2020. Three models were released, the 7, 8 and 9. Subtle differences exist between them (check out our Oral-B iO comparison), but the iO 9 has been the flagship model to date.
What made and continues to make the iO different, is that it has a display built into the brush handle. It does have a more premium and minimalist design compared to many other Oral-B brush handles. In addition, the motor inside had been completely redesigned to offer a quieter yet effective clean of the teeth.
In 2021, the iO 6 was added to the range. Its appeal is the iO design and features at a cheaper price point. The iO 6 does not offer the fast charging magnetic charger of the 7, 8 and 9.
The iO10 continues with the same handle design as the existing models and retains all the features seen previously. What makes it stand out and ‘better’ than the other models on offer is the charging stand/station.
The larger magnetic charging station has iO Sense technology built into it, as well as an LED clock on the front.
Unlike a regular charging stand that just charges the toothbrush, this stand is a visual aid in your oral care routine.
iO Sense gives real-time feedback on your brushing via the LEDs built into the charging station.
On the top of the charging station are 6 LED panels which illuminate independently depending on how you are using the toothbrush.
Each LED relates to a zone or selection of teeth you brush during your 2 minute brushing cycle.
To help you visualise the 6 sections, they are:
- Upper right back teeth
- Upper front teeth
- Upper left back teeth
- Lower left back teeth
- Lower front teeth
- Lower right back teeth
During a normal 2 minute clean time you spend 20 seconds cleaning each of the 6 zones (commonly referred to by dentists as sextants).
As you move from sextant to sextant, the LED panel is lit, until all 6 are illuminated and you have completed your brushing. The LEDs are a guide to help you complete a thorough clean of the teeth.
If you brush with too much pressure, the LEDs will illuminate red rather than the standard blue to alert you that you are brushing with too much force.
This visual timer is in sync with the brush handle itself, they connect via Bluetooth. The charging stand connects to WiFi within your home and transfers data back to the app, via the cloud.
It is yet another way to interact with and be educated by the toothbrush to brush for as long as you need.
Like other smart toothbrushes from Oral-B, the iO10 works with their app. You can get real-time visual data on your phone screen if you desire, but the charging station helps you at those times you might not have your phone to hand.
I am sure you have got distracted when brushing and suddenly thought, how long have I been brushing for and what teeth should I be brushing now? This stand gives you a quick reference to put you back on track.
iO Sense seen here is an evolution of Oral-B Sense that was introduced a couple of years ago (US only), but wasn’t promoted much.
Another nice touch is that the iO 10’s charging station has an LED clock on the front.
To function it will have to be connected to a power outlet and a 2 pin power adapter connected into the stand itself.
No precise launch date has been given for the iO 10 with iO Sense Technology, nor has an official price been given.
Based on past experience I suspect these models will be available in the spring/summer of 2022 and have a retail price of around £600 although expect the actual selling price to be around £300.
We do know that it will be made available in 2 colour options, they are:
- Cosmic Black
- Stardust White
Whilst previous iO series have been available in white and black colour options, these are slightly different and exclusive to the iO 10 as the handle has a speckled tone to it.
It will come with the Power2go travel case as the iO 9 did.
At this stage, we don’t know how many brush heads will come supplied with the brush.
The information released so far does confirm that it will have 7 cleaning modes, a colour display and a visible pressure sensor.
The iO 10 isn’t going to clean the teeth any better than any other Oral-B electric toothbrush, but what it will do is appeal to some users in ways other brushes do not.
