Our Verdict

The Burst Sonic is a clinically proven electric toothbrush that delivers ultimate value and convenience via the subscription service offered.

It is a solid option for daily use and is one of the best toothbrushes available on subscription today.

  • Automatic power off
  • Battery life
  • USB charging stand
  • 90 day money back guarantee

Goby Toothbrush Review

Goby Toothbrush Review 2

Our Verdict

In an era where subscription based services are king, Goby is one to seriously consider for your dental health.

It performs well, leaves the mouth feeling clean. It is easy to use and has an edgy design.

Pros

  • Timer and pacer encourage brushing for the recommended time
  • Standard and sensitive cleaning mode
  • American Dental Association (ADA) approved
  • Unique handle design
  • Available with or without a subscription
  • Good box contents

Cons

  • No pressure sensor to alert you when brushing too hard
  • The brush does not stand upright without the stand

Brüush Review

Close Up Bruush Handle

Our Verdict

Brüush is a sonic toothbrush that I would use, without issue on a daily basis.

It cleans the teeth well, looks, and feels good in the hand, and has a decent battery life.

Including a travel case in the box, along with 3 brush heads is a nice touch and adds to the value on offer.

I don’t quite align with the logic of replacing a brush head every 2 months as is the case with the subscription plan.  It isn’t a complete dealbreaker though.

There is little wrong with Brüush, but there isn’t anything that makes it stand out as an absolute must buy.

Pros

  • Design & color options
  • Built-in timer & pacer
  • Automatic power off
  • 6 cleaning modes
  • Battery life
  • Magnetic charger
  • Subscription

Cons

  • No pressure sensor
  • Subscription

Quip Smart Toothbrush Review

Quip Smart Toothbrush Review 6

Editor’s Note

This Smart toothbrush is a Bluetooth enabled version of the original Quip brush we have previously reviewed.

You can read our original Quip toothbrush review or alternatively read on to understand the benefits of this smart version and how it compares.

Our Verdict

The Quip Smart toothbrush (view it here on the Quip website) is a likeable product, primarily due to the design and practicality it offers.  I like the principle behind it too.

The smart features certainly give extra insight and the presence of rewards does  motivate you and me to achieve a better standard of brushing.  The execution of the app is better than I had anticipated.

As per the original Quip brush, the cleaning power remains weaker than a traditional electric toothbrush which is disappointing for many.  It is a crossover between manual and electric.

For those serious about tracking their brushing habits and getting a great clean, products like the hum by Colgate are a better choice.

Pros

  • Slim and lightweight
  • 1 cleaning mode
  • Built-in timer
  • Removable batteries
  • Smart features
  • Multi-use travel case
  • Subscription service
  • American Dental Association approved

Cons

  • Cleaning performance
  • No battery status/feedback
  • No pressure sensor
  • Smart features
  • Subscription

Boka Toothbrush Review

Boka toothbrush laid on side

Our Verdict

The Boka sonic toothbrush is a great electric toothbrush which I could happily use on a daily basis.

It is well designed and the overall product impressed me more than I anticipated.  What criticisms I have about this brush are in truth small.

It performs just like the more recognized Sonicare brand of electric brushes and is without doubt a very good alternative to their offerings.

But, given the similarity in features and price I am not convinced there is necessarily enough uniqueness to really make this your choice over Sonicare.

The small potential cost savings and subscription plan are likely going to be the most appealing features.

Pros

  • Design
  • Built-in timer and pacer
  • Automatic power off
  • 3 cleaning modes
  • Battery life
  • Magnetic charger
  • Subscription

Cons

  • Charcoal bristles
  • No cleaning mode icons
  • No pressure sensor
  • Subscription

Quip Toothbrush Review

Quip Toothbrush Review 7

Editor’s Note

Quip has introduced the Quip Smart toothbrush as an additional product within their range.

This shares the same form factor as the original, but it is able to connect to a smartphone application using a Bluetooth connection.

It tracks your clean and helps you improve your brushing.

We have reviewed the Quip Smart toothbrush as it is known here.

Our Verdict

The main reason to choose Quip instead of a regular electric toothbrush is for the subscription option, or the travel benefits.

However, as a seasoned electric toothbrush user, the motor feels weak, and the clean no better that a manual brush and certainly not as invigorating as deep cleaning as other electric brushes I have used.

We have outlined some alternatives worth considering in the sections below

Pros

  • Slim and lightweight
  • 1 cleaning mode
  • Built-in timer
  • Removable batteries
  • Travel case double up as a wall mount
  • Subscription service
  • American Dental Association approved

Cons

  • Cleaning experience feels weak in comparison other brushes
  • No battery status/feedback
  • No pressure sensor

Shyn Sonic Review

Shyn Sonic Review 8

Our Verdict

A good toothbrush that performs as well as you would hope with some nice features.

The battery life isn’t as great as I would have hoped.  The pressure sensor and brushing intensity options are also implemented in a slightly unusual way.

Owning Shyn is a bit like owning a Sonicare toothbrush, only you get more for less and the ability to subscribe for regular brush head deliveries.

Pros

  • Stylish & smart looking brush
  • Timer & pacer built-in
  • Pressure sensor
  • Travel case
  • Only works when brush head attached
  • Price
  • American Dental Association approved

Cons

  • Battery life
  • Pressure sensor only works in certain situations
  • Confusing brushing intensity settings
  • Lack of grips

Goby vs Quip vs Burst

Goby vs Quip vs Burst 9

Introduction

Philips Sonicare and Braun Oral-B might well be the leading brands in the electric toothbrush market, but in recent years there has been a rapid emergence of new companies offering similar products with potential benefits for you and me.

Goby, Quip and Burst Oral Care are three of the most popular new brands.

Their big differentiator to the likes of Oral-B and Sonicare is that these brushes are sold on a subscription model

Think of them like the Netflix, Amazon Prime or Spotify of the electric toothbrush market.

Where once you were expected to go out and buy replacement brush heads when you needed them, now they are delivered to you at regular intervals when the head should ideally be replaced.

Each of these brands is grabbing media attention and vying for your custom, but which brand and brush should you go for and why?

All have their pros and cons and one may appeal to you more than another.

In this guide, I present as much information as possible for you to become better informed on which brand is more suited to you and why.

Boie Toothbrush Review

Boie Toothbrush Review

Our Verdict

With a brushing experience similar to that of a manual toothbrush, there isn’t much not to like here.

However, I am not sure if the bristles and brush head construction is as effective as a regular toothbrush.

Credit for the innovative design, but it needs millions to purchase this to make the impact Boie hope for.

Pros

  • Design – Slim in the hand and lightweight too.
  • Brush heads – Change less frequently and less abrasive on the teeth and gums.
  • BPA free
  • Subscription – A useful option for some for regular brush head delivery.
  • Packaging – Simple and environmentally friendly.

Cons

  • Design – The flat profile is a little odd in hand and not necessarily as strong.
  • Brush head – It is larger than most other brushes I have used.  Bristles flex a lot and not sure how well they will retain their structure.
  • Concept – Great concept but needs millions to adopt to have an impact.
  • Comparison to others – lack of detail in the Boie FAQ about how the recycling of this brush compares to mainstream brushes.

Goby vs Sonicare & Oral-B

Goby vs Sonicare & Oral-B

Introduction

When buying an electric toothbrush, you can rarely go too far wrong if you were to pick up a Sonicare or Oral-B model for yourself.

However, there are a number of new challengers that are taking on these well-known brands by delivering slightly different products and supporting services.

US company Goby is just one example.

There are many appealing elements to Goby’s offering, but should you put your trust and hand your cash over to them, rather than very reputable Sonicare and Oral-B?

In this article, I will be making a comparison between Goby, Philips Sonicare and Braun Oral-B to help you understand which brand you should ultimately opt for.

I’ll jump straight in with my overall verdict, then explain in detail how I got there.

Electric Teeth Verdict

Fundamentally what separates Goby from the other brands is their subscription model. It is fair to say that they are more closely aligned to Quip and Burst. In fact, Goby is in my eyes the best subscription toothbrush you can buy right now.

Ignore the subscription model and Oral-B’s brushes are the best alternative.
