Oral-B Vitality vs Pro 1000

Which one would we choose?

Our Choice: Oral-B Pro 1000 (view on Amazon)
2nd Choice: Oral-B Vitality (view on Amazon)

An average price difference of $15 sets these 2 brushes apart, but for me, this is a premium well worth paying.

The Oral-B Pro 1000 is a solid performing electric toothbrush that, unlike the Vitality, does not miss out on some key features that can transform your everyday usability.

Oral-B Genius 9600 vs Sonicare DiamondClean Smart

Editor’s Note

The Genius 9600 included in this comparison has been improved upon. The new model is called the Genius X. It is, for most a better purchase.

It is more closely aligned to the DiamondClean Smart.

There is only a minimal price premium for this newer model, given the potential benefits it brings.

We encourage you to look at our Oral-B Genius X vs Sonicare DiamondClean Smart for further information.

Which one would we choose?

Our Choice: Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Smart (view on Amazon)
2nd Choice: Oral-B Genius 9600 (view on Amazon)

These are 2 very capable electric toothbrushes, both of which will serve you well.

Whilst the cleaning action of the Genius 9600 is technically better, for the few extra dollars that the DiamondClean Smart commands, it is the all-round better buy.

Philips have put together a very complete package that performs well, looks great and feels good in the hand.

The USB charging case, in particular, is a much better implementation and the associated smartphone app is a little less hassle to use.

Oral-B Genius X vs Sonicare DiamondClean Smart

Which one would we choose?

Our choice: Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Smart (view on Amazon)
2nd choice: Oral-B Genius X (view on Amazon)

Both of these toothbrushes offer more than anyone NEEDS of an electric toothbrush.

But, these are 2 of the best examples of feature rich and technically capable toothbrushes.

Very closely aligned they are, but the DiamondClean Smart, is a bit more capable and ultimately more refined.  It looks, feels and performs like a more premium product should. It also integrates into daily life with more ease than the Genius X.

The travel case will be the deal breaker for most and why the DiamondClean is the winner.  It comes at a price premium though.

Oral-B Genius X vs Genius 9600

Which one would we choose?

Our choice: Oral-B Genius X (view on Amazon)
2nd choice: Oral-B Genius 9600 (view on Amazon)

There are not that many differences between these 2 smart electric toothbrushes.

The Genius X is the better of the two brushes as its Bluetooth connectivity and real-time brush tracking is much simpler to use on a daily basis.

The only real reason to opt for the 9600 would be if the price was considerably less.

Oral-B Pro 7000 vs Genius Pro 8000

Editor’s Note

The Oral-B Genius Pro 8000 remains our recommendation over, the Pro 7000.

However, the 8000 has essentially been upgraded. The new model is the Genius X.

Very similar, the Genius X is a bit more practical to use on a daily basis, particularly if you like the ‘smart’ features such as position tracking.

We rate the Genius X over the Pro 8000.

We therefore suggest you take a look at our Genius X vs Genius Pro 8000 comparison.

Which one would we choose?

Our Choice: Genius Pro 8000 (view on Amazon)
2nd Choice: Oral-B Pro 7000 (view on Amazon)

Two superb electric toothbrushes neither will leave you disappointed; but the Genius Pro 8000 just edges it for the design and innovation, not to mention small improvement in battery life and the included travel case.

Oral-B Genius Pro 8000 vs 9600 vs 9000 vs 8900 vs 9900

Editor’s Note

This is a comparison of 5 different electric toothbrush models from Oral-B.

They have been combined into 1 comparison because they are similarly named and very similarly featured.

It is the Oral-B Genius Pro 8000 & 9600 that are designed for and have been launched within the USA.

The Genius 8900, 9000 and 9900 are models that have been designed for and launched within Europe.

Although technically possible to import these to the USA and use them here (different charging stands would be required), they have not been launched or sold in the US by Oral-B.

To further complicate matters, in Europe, there is too the Genius 8000, but it is different to the US model.  The European Genius 8000 is not as feature rich as the US model.

As you can probably then understand, in this comparison, I do go on to further explain all the differences, but because ONLY THE GENIUS PRO 8000 and Genius 9600 are available in the USA, as such there are the only models I can recommend.

Of these 2, it is the 8000 that is the better brush in my opinion.  You get more, for less money.

You can read our Genius Pro 8000 review here.

You can read our Genius 9600 review here.

To further complicate matters, in late 2019, Oral-B launched the Genius X in the USA and Europe.

The Genius X is essentially an upgrade on the Pro 8000 and 9600, making the real-time tracking better and more user friendly.

Your can read our Genius X review here.

Or you can take a look at our Genius Pro 8000 vs Genius X or Genius 9600 vs Genius X comparison for more information.

Which one would we choose?

Our Choice: Oral-B Genius Pro 8000 (view on Amazon)
2nd Choice: Oral-B Genius 9600 (view on Amazon)

The Oral-B Genius Pro 8000 is the brush to go for.

It is a flagship Oral-B electric toothbrush that as you would expect cleans the teeth really well, but benefits from many other features including multiple cleaning modes, pressure sensor, good box contents, Bluetooth connectivity and much more.

For a closer look and a hands-on video, see our Oral-B Genius Pro 8000 Review.

Which one would we choose?

Our choice: Oral-B Genius X (view on Amazon)
2nd choice: Oral-B Genius Pro 8000 (view on Amazon)

These two brushes are almost identical in features and capability.

The Oral-B Genius X is the better of the two brushes as its Bluetooth connectivity and real-time brush tracking are much simpler to use on a daily basis.

However, there is a very strong argument to pick the Pro 8000 over the X, particularly if the purchase price is favorable.

Editor’s Note

The Genius 8000 included in this comparison has been improved upon. The new model is called the Genius X. It is, for most a better purchase.

It is more similarly featured to the DiamondClean Smart from Sonicare, which in itself is an upgrade over the DiamondClean featured below.

There is only a minimal price premium for these newer and more feature rich models.

Which one would we choose?

Our Choice: Oral-B Genius Pro 8000 (view on Amazon)
2nd Choice: Sonicare DiamondClean (view on Amazon)

The DiamondClean is the smarter looking brush, but the style and benefits it offers are not great enough to consider it over Oral-B’s flagship electric toothbrush the Genius Pro 8000.

With so many features, the Genius has more than most of us needs, but it shows innovation and will appeal to those who want to take their oral healthcare routine to the next level.

Fairywill vs Sonicare & Oral-B

Introduction

An electric toothbrush is a fantastic tool for improving and maintaining your dental health.

Whilst you do not need to spend hundreds of dollars to get a good electric toothbrush, you are really looking at at least $40-60 to get a solid performing brush, from a reputable brand.

Not all have the budget to be able to afford such and therefore miss out on many of the benefits these electrically operated brushes offer.

However, thanks to the global economy that exists there are many equivalent products on offer at a much more affordable price.

Fairywill is perhaps the largest and fastest growing brand that I know of, offering feature-rich toothbrushes at around half the price of the leading brands.

Cost savings are there to be had, but how do their brushes compare to those dental health brands we know and recognize?

Should you give Fairywill your money when picking up your next toothbrush?

In this article, I will be making a comparison between Fairywill, Philips Sonicare and Braun Oral-B, to help you understand which brand you should ultimately opt for.

Which one would we choose?

Our Choice: Soincare 2 Series (view on Amazon)
2nd Choice: Sonicare 3 Series (view on Amazon)

Small differences between these 2 electric toothbrushes there might well be, but for the typical selling price, the 3 Series is hard to justify.

Both perform well and appeal to slightly different audiences.

The 2 Series does though have all the boxes ticked on what makes a great basic electric toothbrush.  You do not necessarily need more from a toothbrush, unless you particularly demand it.

If the longer battery life and travel case are features you command, the 3 Series is the one offer this, but you pay a premium for it.

Oral-B Pro 1000 vs Sonicare 2 Series

Which one would we choose?

Our Choice: Oral-B Pro 1000 (view on Amazon)
2nd Choice: Sonicare 2 Series (view on Amazon)

These brushes are really so comparable, trying to pick between them is difficult.

It’s the equivalent to picking between a Dominos or Papa John’s pizza!

2 great budget/entry level brushes that have the basics you need and want of an electric toothbrush covered.

The 1000 just takes the top spot because of the brush head and approval it has received.

Oral-B Pro 3000 vs Pro 5000

Which one would we choose?

Our Choice: The Pro 5000 (view on Amazon)
2nd Choice: The Pro 3000 (view on Amazon)

The Pro 3000 is a well featured electric toothbrush that will meet the needs of most electric toothbrush users, whilst offering a few added extras.

The 5000, however, is a justifiable upgrade because of the extras it offers for little in the way of extra spend.

Aesthetically the Pro 3000 is the better brush, but features and value play out to make the 5000 the optimum choice.

Which one would we choose?

Our Choice:  Sonicare DiamondClean Smart 9500 (view on Amazon)
2nd Choice: Sonicare FlexCare Platinum Connected with UV Sanitizer (view on Amazon)

These brushes in many respects appeal to different audiences.  The FlexCare Platinum Connected covers all the basics and a fair bit more to be a very capable and compelling brush.

The product feels rounded, refined, capable and indeed smart.  It makes everyday brushing that bit simpler, that bit more refined.

It comes at a price, but if you want one of the best electric toothbrushes available today, the 9500 is one to opt for.

Which one would we choose?

Our Choice:  Sonicare DiamondClean Smart (view on Amazon)

Budget electric toothbrushes these are not.

Here we have some of the most feature rich and most capable electric toothbrushes with more features and box contents that many of us need, but wow what an experience they offer.

The FlexCare Platinum Connected has a more functional look and feel to it, but it is beaten by the DiamondClean Smart because it all just feels a bit more perfected and premium for not a lot more.

Oral-B Pro 1000 vs Pro 2000

Which one would we choose?

Our Choice: The Pro 1000 (view on Amazon)
2nd Choice: The Pro 2000 (view on Amazon)

The Pro 1000 wins for simplicity, value for money and just getting the job done.

It is not the most exciting, it does not have the best battery life, but the Pro 2000 does not offer enough to really be the number one choice.

If you’re considering brushes specifically within this price range, you might like to consider our recommendation for the best affordable electric toothbrush.

Oral-B Pro 5000 vs 7000

Which one would we choose?

Our Choice: The Pro 7000 (view on Amazon)
2nd Choice: The Pro 5000 (view on Amazon)

The Pro 7000 is the complete package.  It offers something for everyone although sadly it comes at a price.

Offering a fantastic clean, and tools to make you take better care of your oral health, the included Smart Wireless Guide is an underrated inclusion that for me compliments this powered toothbrush to be the benchmark for which many should aim to be.

Battery life is not as good as it could be, but better performing models are not necessarily as feature rich or command even more money to be spent.

The 5000 is good, but when spending this sort of money, the 7000 has the edge in my opinion.

Which one would we choose?

Our Choice: The Pro 5000 (view on Amazon)
2nd Choice: The Pro 1000 (view on Amazon)

It commands a sizeable premium but for what it offers, I think it is worth it.

The Pro 5000 is an excellent brush that has a number of different cleaning modes a better than average box contents and features that make it a little more appealing than the 1000.

The 1000 is no pushover though, and for a no-nonsense electric toothbrush is a great solution.

Our Choice: Soincare 2 Series (view on Amazon)
2nd Choice: Sonicare Essence (view on Amazon)

There are a few subtle differences between these 2 electric toothbrushes that make the 2 Series from Sonicare the better all-round buy in my opinion.

The cheaper initial purchase price of the Essence is outweighed by the typically higher purchase price of the replacement brush heads.

Oral-B Pro 6000 vs Pro 7000

Which one would we choose?

Our Choice: The Pro 6000 (view on Amazon)
2nd Choice: The Pro 7000 (view on Amazon)

Two really feature rich brushes, that are so similar yet different.

The 7000 is a brilliant toothbrush, with a great box contents, but the 6000 is the newer and better electric toothbrush.

It looks and feels better in the hand than the 7000, which is chunkier, heavier and has lesser battery life.

Oral-B Pro 5000 vs Pro 6000

Which one would we choose?

Our Choice: The Pro 6000 (view on Amazon)
2nd Choice: The Pro 5000 (view on Amazon)

Technically there is not a great deal that set these 2 brushes apart.  They are in fact similar in more ways than they are different.

As good as the Pro 5000 is, the 6000 is the brush to opt for.

It is a lot more stylish, feels more practical and more current.

The good news is too, with a bit of savvy shopping you don’t have to spend much more either to get this.

Oral-B Pro 6000 vs Genius Pro 8000

Which one would we choose?

Our Choice: The Pro 6000 (view on Amazon)
2nd Choice: The Genius Pro 8000 (view on Amazon)

The Genius Pro 8000 has it all.  The best of Oral-B’s technology is built-in, it’s their flagship brush.  It sets a high standard.

But the 6000 is for many the better buy.

It offers many of the same features but does away with those that are more questionable and not necessarily make or break within your purchasing decision.

Philips Sonicare DiamondClean vs Oral-B Pro 7000

Which one would we choose?

Our Choice: Oral-B Pro 7000 (view on Amazon)
2nd Choice: Sonicare DiamondClean (view on Amazon)

A tricky head to head, because both brushes offer a lot.

The Pro 7000 just edges the win because of the Bluetooth connectivity and in box contents.

But the DiamondClean certainly beats it for style and battery life.

2 solid electric toothbrushes, neither disappoint.

Editor’s Note

Update winter 2019: Since original publication, Oral-B have updated the Pro 500 and Vitality.

This comparison, along with the hands-on reviews of the brushes have been updated to reflect our thoughts on the ‘newer’ 2019 models.

The differences compared to the previous model of the same name, are relatively subtle.

The reviews list the differences between the old and newer models, should you like to know more.

Which one would we choose?

Our Choice: Oral-B Pro 500 (view on Amazon)
2nd Choice: Oral-B Vitality (view on Amazon)

Very little set these two brushes apart, but there is one very important difference between the two, that in my opinion, leaves no question that the Pro 500 is the better option for you than the Vitality.

With this said, if you are seriously considering an electric toothbrush, I urge you to take a look at the Oral-B Pro 1000, which I believe will be a better investment, or our choice for best budget electric toothbrush.

Oral-B Pro 1000 vs Pro 3000

Which one would we choose?

Our Choice: The Pro 1000 (view on Amazon)
2nd Choice: The Pro 3000 (view on Amazon)

The purpose of a toothbrush is to clean your teeth, to remove plaque.

Both of these brushes do that job really well.

However, if I take away the extras and focus on the core principle of what a toothbrush is about, then there is no denying the Pro 1000 is the one to go for.

The Pro 3000 is the all round better brush because it has more features and a superior box contents, but not everyone wants more if they won’t use it and have to pay for it.

Sonicare ProtectiveClean 6100 vs DiamondClean Smart

Sonicare DiamondClean Smart vs ProtectiveClean 6100

Which one would we choose?

Our Choice: Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 6100 (view on Amazon)
2nd Choice: Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Smart (view on Amazon)

Both brushes come with our recommendation.

Technically the DiamondClean Smart is the better toothbrush. However, when you consider what most need and want from a brush, the ProtectiveClean 6100 wins as it offers that balance between features and price.

If money is no object the Smart is a great toothbrush, but many of the things you pay for will unlikely be used on a daily basis.

  • The DiamondClean Smart is more expensive.

These differences are explained at length later in this article. However, you might wish to learn more about each brush being compared. To do so, check out our hands-on reviews:

Please note. There are several different variants of the DiamondClean Smart. There is the 9300, 9500, 9700, and 9750 series. They are very similar, but subtle differences exist. You can learn about those differences here.  For the sake of this comparison, I will be comparing our preferred model, the 9500.

Oral-B Pro 1000 vs Pro 7000

Which one would we choose?

Our Choice: The Pro 7000 (view on Amazon)
2nd Choice: The Pro 1000 (view on Amazon)

This comparison is a little unfair.

It’s a little like comparing the ‘value’ or ‘basics’ product against the ‘Premium’ or ‘Exclusive’ product.

It’s equivalent to comparing a basic Ford Fiesta to the Ford GT40 race car.

Both are excellent toothbrushes in their own right, providing a great clean.

The Pro 1000 sets a high bar for the price, but the 7000 is considerably more appealing, it’s just you pay for it.  At the time of writing some $90.

  • The Pro 1000 is all White, Black and White or Blue and White in color compared to the 7000 which is available in all White or Black/Silver color combinations.
  • The Pro 1000 is generally the cheaper of the two.

These differences are explained at length later in this article. However, you might wish to learn more about each brush being compared. To do so, check out our hands-on reviews:

Please note. The word Pro and Smart Series are used interchangeably when followed by the 7000 model number.  This is because both names apply to the model.  It’s the same thing, but there has been a bit of a re-branding exercise that has taken place, so where once named only the Pro 7000, it is now a bit of a combination as Oral-B try to make consideration for the Bluetooth connectivity that it offers, hence the Oral-B Pro 7000 SmartSeries electric toothbrush.

Simplicity and innovation blend to make a fantastic electric toothbrush in the DiamondClean Smart.

Whilst the DiamondClean is good, for the very small premium to ‘upgrade’ to the DiamondClean Smart is our minds well worth it.

The Smart is the closest thing you can get to perfection in an electric toothbrush, albeit with a hefty price tag.

Key Differences

Understandably there are differences between the two models.

However, to make a direct comparison between the two is made more complicated, because there are 3 different versions of the DiamondClean Smart and 2 variants of the DiamondClean.

These different variants are explained in detail in our DiamondClean Smart hands on review and our DiamondClean review.

To keep things simple, I will compare the DiamondClean (the more common, non wireless charging edition to what I believe to be the best value and our recommended DiamondClean Smart variant the 9500 series.

  • The DiamondClean Smart is available in Black, White, Pink, and Silver.  The DiamondClean is available in Amethyst, Black, White, Pink and Rose Gold.
  • The DiamondClean Smart comes with 5 cleaning modes (Clean, White+, Deep Clean+, Gum Health, and Tongue Care) compared to the 5 cleaning modes on the DiamondClean (Clean, White, Sensitive, Gum Care and Deep Clean).
  • The DiamondClean Smart offers 3 different intensities to the cleaning modes, low medium and high.  This is not offered on the standard DiamondClean.
  • The DiamondClean Smart comes with 4 brush heads (1 x Premium Plaque Control, 1 x Premium Gum Care, 1 x Premium White and 1 x TongueCare+ tongue brush) compared to the 3 with the DiamondClean (1 x AdaptiveClean, 1 x DiamondClean and 1 x InterCare).
