Please note: Part of the Oral-B 3D White Luxe range, it is easy to be led into thinking that this mouthwash may help whiten teeth.
This mouthwash will not whiten the teeth.
The formulation is designed to help maximise the white look of your teeth and to help protect the teeth against staining that can otherwise discolour the teeth.
We explain this further in our post Best Whitening Mouthwash: Does Such A Thing Exist?
If you wish to have whiter teeth than you have already, do take a moment to read our simplified overview of teeth whitening, to give you the key facts and information useful to you.
In this post, I am reviewing the Oral-B 3D White Glamorous Shine Rinse, which is part of the Oral-B 3D White range.
If you’ve landed on this page and you’re not sure which mouthwash it is you need (there is a vast range), we’ve now reviewed quite a few different mouthwash products and summarise our findings in our post on the best mouthwash.
How much does it cost?
At the time of writing the cost ranges from £4.49 through to £4.99.
For the quoted price you get a 500ml bottle of the Glamorous Shine rinse.
Of course the price you pay may vary given the time and location of purchase. However, do not pay over £4.99 as this would be higher than the recommended retail price.

Where can I buy it?
Various online and high-street retailers should have it available.
Below are links to some of the online retailers that currently sell it.
Would I recommend it?
This would not be my first recommendation for a mouthwash, but I have no reasons to say do not use it.
I don’t believe this is a mouthwash that offers nothing more than many other cheaper options, just for more money. Yes, it is nicely packaged and compliments the 3D White Luxe range of products and I cannot claim it is really overpriced; just a little more expensive.
It does what it should, but just don’t buy it thinking this can actually make your teeth whiter.
Full Review
You want that sparkling white smile (deep down we all do). You spend plenty of time ensuring you are cleaning your teeth properly twice a day (with a whitening toothpaste, possibly a 3D White Luxe paste) and you floss, so you are on the right path to success.
Could you be doing more? Quite possibly.
Have you considered using a mouthwash?
A mouthwash, when used correctly, can aid in keeping the mouth healthy and looking great by reducing bacteria, and strengthening the enamel.
Where a mouthwash or rinse like the Oral-B 3D White Luxe Glamorous Shine comes into best effect is when you do not have a toothbrush. Brushing your teeth more than twice a day can potentially have more damaging effects than positive ones. So after lunch or a meal a mouthwash is one way to safely cleanse the mouth and wash away unwanted food debris and bacteria that may be building up in the mouth and perfect that smile.
On test here, the 500ml bottle of Fresh Mint flavoured 3D White Luxe Glamorous Shine rinse is said to help keep your teeth naturally white, help prevent tartar build up and help strengthen the enamel on your teeth.
This is an everyday mouthwash that can be used safely a couple of times a day for as long as you like.
How I tested the mouthwash
The guidance from Oral-B is to use this rinse twice daily.
You could use it more or less, there is to my knowledge any harm that can be done by this, but there are limited arguments to exceed use more than twice a day.
Professional guidance, including that from the NHS is to use mouthwash after brushing the teeth, but not immediately after. I prefer to use after eating or when I feel I wish to freshen my mouth up a little.
For the purposes of this review the times I tested the mouthwash as follows:
- At lunchtime after having eaten
- In the evening, after dinner but before cleaning my teeth at night
Each time I used the recommended 15ml dosage.
This test lasted for 2 weeks.
In line with this my normal toothbrushing pattern remained, cleaning my teeth twice a day for 2 minutes with an Oral-B electric toothbrush, the Pro 6000 set to Whitening mode, with a 3D White Brush head and Oral-B 3D White Luxe Perfection toothpaste.
Summary How I tested the mouthwash
- Test lasted for 2 weeks (14 days)
- Used at 2 different times of the day
- Used 15ml each time
- Used Oral-B Pro 6000 with 3D White brush head
- Cleaned twice a day for 2 minutes each time
- Flossed once a day
- No changes in diet
Daily Usage
Morning or night this mouthwash is there for you, it is an everyday rinse with a fresh mint flavour.
Despite being part of the 3D White Luxe range the mouthwash itself does not form any part of the whitening procedure, but has properties that if used as part of a regime that includes other 3D white products, can together have and effect.
The mouthwash itself is an aqua blue colour, not clear. It has quite a strong smell to it if you put your nose in close to the bottle. However the strong smell is sweeter and more pleasant than some others.
When in the mouth though the taste for me was not as nice as I would have wished for initially, but after a few uses I got used to it. In fact whilst not awful I did not find this to be all that pleasant as some others.
Whilst the initial taste was not a wow, as the mouthwash swirls around the mouth, the intensity of the cleanse and mintyness kicks in at 15-20 seconds. The lack of preference for taste is muted by the burst of minty freshness and I got a small tingle/sensation through my cheeks when rinsing in the mouth.
It felt like it was working, which was a good thing though and it does certainly have a mint flavour.
Considerably more expensive CB12 tasted much better as does the more specialist Colgate Peroxyl which was softer to the pallette.
Once spat out, it did leave quite a strong taste in the mouth and a zingy freshness. Whilst it dulled this lasted for somewhere between an hour to two hours after use for me, which I think is good.
Whilst the taste may not have been to my liking, it is a short term dislike for the hygiene benefits its brings.
The ingredients in the mouthwash are Aqua, Alcohol, Glycerin, Disodium Pyrophosphate, Tetrasodium Pyrophosphate, Polysorbate 80, Aroma, Poloxamer 407, Sodium Saccharin, Sodium Fluoride, Sucralose, CI 42090.
For those interested 7.6% is the amount of alcohol within this 3D White rinse (this explains the harsher zingy taste) and it contains 0.0218% sodium fluoride (98ppm fluoride).
Together these give the mouthwash the ability to help keep your teeth naturally white, help prevent tartar build up and help strengthen enamel.
Reporting on if this mouthwash does just this and has any real positive benefit requires science, tools and tests well beyond the scope of what I have available. A similar range of ingredients and suggested benefits with other mouthwash products would suggest so.

Do remember mouthwash is not a critical part of an oral regime, you could go without but there are benefits when used at times when using a toothbrush is not practical, convenient or required.
The recommended dosage is 15ml. Swish this around the mouth for about 30 seconds and then spit out.
From the 500ml bottle will get approximately 33 uses out of it. If you then use twice a day you are getting about 16-17 days use from the bottle.
If you ever receive advice from your dentist or hygienist to alter your routine do take their advice.
As with any product used within the mouth, should you notice any side effects stop using and seek further assistance.
It is not advised for children under the age of 6 to use this mouthwash.
Prices for Oral-B 3D White Luxe Glamorous Shine range typically from £4.49 to £4.99. At the higher end of the scale this works out at £0.15p per rinse and £0.13p if you can source for £4.49 or less.
3D White is a premium range from Oral-B and you do pay a bit of a premium for this. For comparisons sake, a conventional everyday mouthwash (not so well branded) can work out at about 4-5p per use. Even if you have money burning a hole in your pocket that is quite a difference.
This is not me saying do not use this product, this is just my personal opinion.
Those who focus on getting their teeth white are often concerned about their image and how others perceive them. Be this vanity or a lack of confidence to smile the 3D White range of products can make a difference when you use a whitening toothpaste in conjunction with the rinse.
Smokers, avid coffee and red wine drinkers, the 3D white range has your name on it.
If you are a little brand conscious and like something to look at home on your shelves then I think Oral-B have nailed it pretty well.
Personally CB12 steals the show from those I have seen and handled, but this certainly comes close. The bottle is not glamorous, it is a glossy white colour with a conventional shape and design for a mouthwash.
The bold purple coloured labels front and back catch the eye and clearly explain and show what it is.
Usually there are quite a few safety messages and things on mouthwash, it feels less so here. This is helped by the rear mounted sticker having to be peeled open to reveal more detailed information like usage directions and the ingredients that are included.
Some may find it frustrating but the bottle has a safety cap on it like you might get on a bottle of tablets or on a bottle of bleach.
You need to press on the two sides of the cap to release and unscrew it. This stops accidentally leaks but also children accidentally using it.
Once remove the cap has a large cup like design. Inside the cap are 2 very faint and difficult to read markings for 15 and 20ml. The cap has ridges running all round it which makes it grippy and easy to hold onto, even if it was wet.
The bottle has a relatively long neck to it which makes pouring out into the cap a lot easier.
It may sound ridiculous but some mouthwash bottles are quite poorly and impractically designed. This extra bit of thought goes a long way for me.
All told it looks smart and is easy to use and if image and style is your thing then I do not see any reason why this could not be given a place on a shelf in your home.

The Results
Unlike Corsodyl or Colgate Peroxyl which has been specifically designed to target a particular condition or irritation in the mouth, the 3D White mouthwash looks to offer freshness, prevent bacteria build up and improve teeth health at times when brushing is not always possible or advised.
There is no denying that I could feel and taste the effects of the mouthwash and whilst scientifically I have no data to suggest it did or didn’t work or bring benefits I felt like it was.
The freshness post use that lasted for up to 2 hours post use is good in my mind.

Conclusion, is Oral-B 3D White Luxe Glamorous Shine mouthwash any good?
Aside from cost and a personal lack of appeal for the initial taste I see no reason not to use Oral-B 3D White Luxe Glamorous Shine.
There is no evidence to suggest it is better or worse than cheaper alternatives but the bottle design and the associated branding may for you win your heart.
Some logic there may be to use the same range of products at any one time, so if using the Perfection and whitening accelerator toothpastes from Oral-B why not use the mouthwash to go with it.

I do not have this information. You will need to make contact with Oral-B the producer of the mouthwash to find out.
