Best Baby Toothbrush 2020

best baby toothbrush

1 in 2000 babies might well be born with a tooth already present, but for most parents, you can expect your baby to develop their first tooth around 6-10 months old.

Every child is different.  Some may get their first tooth around 6 months, others may not develop their first tooth until they are 13 or 14 months old, but come 3 years of age they will usually have their full set of milk teeth.

Taking care of your baby’s teeth should ideally begin before that first tooth appears.

More important than you might think, the first set of teeth act as placeholders for adult teeth whilst also enabling your child to chew and speak clearly.

To help keep them healthy you need to keep those teeth clean and decay free.

If you are after a teether and something that eases your infant into brushing, you won’t regret investing in this.

Pros

  • Bold design
  • Teether and toothbrush in one
  • Durable
  • Dishwasher safe

Cons

  • Attracts the dirt
  • Too large for some babies

The Brushies Review

The Brushies Finger Puppet Toothbrush Review - Header Image

Our Verdict

I really like the concept of Brushies.

The different characters and the storybooks are certainly a tried and tested method for engaging children.

But, in reality, everyday use and practicality are not quite so rosy and I won’t continue to use this ongoing.

I think for the greater majority, this is an expensive option with fairly limited additional benefit.

The fit of the finger puppet toothbrush in the mouth of the baby can be difficult, it is simply too big.

Pros

  • Bold colors
  • Durable
  • Dishwasher safe
  • Option to buy with storybook

Cons

  • Size
  • Price

Brusheez Review

Brusheez Review - Header Image

Our Verdict

When you consider what you get for $20 you really cannot grumble.

The design of the brush certainly appeals to kids and with 4 different options, there should be something to suit most.

The wall mountable stand, brushing chart and additional brush head all add to the overall appeal.

In some respects, you get what you pay for and at $20 this is a good buy, but if you can afford to spend more, you will probably feel long term it is the better investment.

Pros

  • Design
  • Box contents
  • 5 year warranty

Cons

  • Noisy
  • Bristles are a bit stiff
  • No timer built-in – only sand timer

Brush-Baby BabySonic Review

Brush-Baby BabySonic Review - header image

Our Verdict

This is not the most engaging children’s toothbrush, but this weakness is made up for by the built-in timer, pacer, and sonic movement, that helps achieve a fantastic overall clean. Not to mention that this is suitable for a broad age range, thanks to the interchangeable heads.

Pros

  • 1 cleaning mode
  • Speed of bristle movement for improved cleaning
  • Built-in 2 minute timer
  • Built-in LED to help see into the child’s mouth

Cons

  • Design is not as engaging as some other baby brushes
  • Sensation & sound might not be suitable for all babies
